About John the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer

John is a transfer pricing expert with more than twenty years of professional working experience in Sub-sahara Africa and and Kenya in particular.

John started his career in tax advisory and audit. He worked as a tax consultant at EY, a big four assurance and advisory firm and later ventured into audit & finance. He then went back to full time tax consultancy with a big ten service provider where he was involved in setting up the tax consultancy & training department in transfer pricing, international tax planning and legal structuring. This with resounding success.

John has hands on experience in transfer pricing documentation and has executed and supervised TP documentation for oil and gas, banking, service, maritime, retail & FMG, agro processing sectors amongst others.

Due to his broad experience and knowledge John was elected to be the Chair of the Tax & Economic Panel of ICPAK, the accountancy regulator in Kenya, which brings ALL tax trainers and pundits under one roof. John is a top tax trainer in Kenya.

In 2012, he started a consultancy firm, Muiruri Tax Associates. He has since helped firms, practitioners and individuals with international tax, transfer pricing, tax litigation and dispute resolutions. In 2016, he launched the website "taxbaddy.com" for tax enthusiasts focusing on Africa region. It is now visited by more than 4,500 finance and tax professionals per month.

John is an ACCA, CPA(K), BSc and holds a Master of business administration (MBA) from Edinburgh Business School (EBS), Herriot Watt University, Scotland.
