Plea agreements are provided for under the Criminal Procedure Code. A prosecutor and an accused person (or his representative) can negotiate and enter into an agreement in respect of:   • A reduction of a charge to a lesser included offence.   • A withdrawal of the charge, or a stay of other charges, or a promise not to proceed with other possible charges. Furthermore, a plea agreement can also provide for the accused person to make a payment of any restitution or compensation. |
